Fire Cracker

Fire Cracker

The first thing I see when I look at this painting is an explosion of colour and celebration. It reminds me cracker night (Guy Fawkes) when I was a kid, lighting fire crackers and shooting off roman candles into the night sky with my friends.

This painting was an accidental one as I intended to paint something else but as I continued painting, I didn't want to lose the essence and excitement of what I had just created so I stopped, stood back and simply enjoyed what was already on the canvas.

Fire Cracker is one of those paintings that explodes in it's space, yet it slows you down and is curiously calming to look at. Like the anticipation of New Year's Eve fireworks ushering in new beginnings, hope, resolutions, the wish for peace and joy, and that sense of being from looking forward to what lies ahead :).

The excitement you feel from the exploding colours, yet the peace that overcomes you in the moment. This is the emotion and engagement I always hope to evoke, with a connection I always hope to create. I hope this painting gives you that same sense of excitement in the moment, as it gave me creating it.
